FINALLY AN UPDATE!!!!

It is hilarious how I said I was going to keep up with this blog but I haven't! Honestly, I lost the password and couldn't get in to update it!! LOL!! so irresponsible! Anyway, SOOO much has happened between now and last year. For starters, IM ENGAGED!!!!! WOO HOO!!! Otis asked me to be his wife on his birthday, December 26, 2008! ...and OF COURSE I said YES! *sigh* if your a member of faccebook, the proposal video is on my page! It was sooo beautiful (but I look a COMPLETE MESS! Head wrapped up and the whole nine!! LMBO!!!)

So now its March and life STILL IS NOT NORMAL! Alot of industry and non industry things are pushing the events of my existence forward DAILY! Music is slow (financially) so, I've picked up teaching again! ...and, believe it or not, IM LOVING IT!! It reeealllly gives me a sense of normalcy (is that a word??) in my crazy everyday.... I substitute teach K-8 (which is decent. The kids can be a challenge at times tho) and then I teach private voice at a music store in the suburbs of Detroit.... and this is what I love. MUSIC!!! :-)

Industry stuff... *sigh* Well, we've got a few songs floating out there.... on Ciara and J Lo. Mary J is cutting a few of our records and I'm headed to NY (tomorrow actually) to do some commissioned work with Def Jam. I'm looking forward to writing great songs... and thats pretty much ALL I'm looking forward to... Its still cold in NY (like it is here in the midwest) so thats a drag... Late hours, greasy take out, no Otis.... But, don't get me wrong, I am ALWAYS grateful for the opportunity to write... it really is a blessing from JESUS CHRIST to have people who barely know you believe in your music and the gifts God has given you! I certainly don't take that type of favor lightly however, I do feel soggy about the things that come along with road travel... Unlike my sister Angela (who lives out of a suitcase and tours year after year after year AND LOVES IT!) i like home.... Oatmeal for breakfast, coffee or tea out of a mug NOT a plastic cup or thermose, hugs and kisses from my fiance WHENEVER i want them and comcast cable at my ma and dads house... which has become surprisingly comforting over the years... lol... Im so sappy.. I know... but I can't help it! Seems like the older I get the more I'm starting to realize what is a necessity for my life.... and it sucks when I have to leave those necessities behind to go away...

Now about the wedding... LOL... *sigh* so expensive, so stressful and SO on the back burner right now. We have set the date at February 27 2010. Its soooo far away because I have to assure that my publishing situation is secure before I get married, WHICHEVER way it pans out (thats a WHOLE DIFFERENT BLOG!!) and that we can afford to live comfortably for two years without a nine to five gig so we can BOTH do our music full time... In the meantime, we are having a lil Engagement shindig for our friends and family. We're hoping to get a bit of money from this party to go towards our wedding expenses as well as really have a WONDERFUL celebration with the people we love.....
